Restaurant and Bar for sale

Updated: Jun 06 18
 Created: May 01 18

Unfortunately there is no entertainment line-up this summer. After more than twenty years of owning the Bent Anchor we have decided it is time to sell. It is our sincere hope that someone will keep the place going as it seems to be the last restaurant and/or bar standing in Combermere and one of a small minority still operating in the Madawaska Valley area.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the friends , neighbours, cottagers and others who supported us so loyally over the last long while.

Now, here is some information for anyone who might be interested in aquiring a very interesting business to occupy part of their year.

The property is 1.77 acres with 175' of waterfront on the Madawaska River. It is bounded on one side by highway 62 and has it's own private access road from there. The zoning also allows at least one residence to be built and raised building lot has already been prepared.

There are three existing structures. The main building is approximately 925 square feet and contains the fully equipped kitchen, an interior seating area with the bar and a large, covered, open sided dining area. There is also an adjoining, open air, patio. This space is licensed for 118 persons.

The washrooms are in a separate, adjacent building and include a shower as well as the usual toilets and sinks.

A third small building is available for food and beverage storage or as a small overnight cabin.

The activities listed to the right are just some of the possibilities. There is ample space on the property for a small campground or boat rental facilities and whatever else your imagination can come up with.

Please note that while several photos show a brown shingled roof this has since been replaced with a green metal roof (which doesn't hold the snow in wintertime!)

Our asking price is $329,000 and we are willing to offer financing to suitable buyers.

Maggie II and the docks

Updated: May 01 18

The shoreline has two large permanent docks that allow cottagers from the over 65 km of waterways a convenient place to tie up.Many cottagers have remarked over the years how wonderful it is to have a destination on the water instead of just cruising around in circles. Often what starts out as a quick stop for a soft drink or beer turns into a full course meal.

The sale also includes the heritage tug boat Maggie II. The Maggie was originally built in 1946 as a logging tug for the Ottawa river, She has since been transformed into a cruise boat and has spent many hours calmly making here way upriver to Kaminiskeg Lake or downstream to the Conroy Marsh conservation area. With a capacity of 8 tons, (or more realistically 18 adults and as many kids as can fit on the sundeck) she provides a significant boost to the summers income. Many who come for a cruise end up staying for supper!
